Breville BTA830XL Die-Cast 4-Slice Long Slot Smart Toaster

This toaster comes from the futute
Yes, it's over-engineered. Yes it's overpriced. Yes I love it.... my space-aged toaster runs smoothly and delivers toasty perfection. I particularly love the way the toast does not "pop" it emerges on an elevator like a Sith Lord arising from the Abyss.

Works well, it's just too damned expensive...
I did a lot of research before buying this toaster and was pretty disappointed with the offerings, overall. It amazes me that in this day and age so few manufacturers have bothered to put together a high quality, reliable, and cost-effective toaster. The manufacturers should be required to take back any old toaster that doesn't work well for at least 10 years. Such a waste of resources to buy and throw these things away with their planned obsolescence. This one works nicely, looks great (although it really is quite huge), and has the right feature set (not too complicated, does just the right things, more on that later). If the toaster were $100 I'd give it 5 stars instead of 4. I'm hopeful the product lasts - my last toaster, a Cuisinart, only worked for a year or two; I hope to get better lifetime from this one!! I also have a Breville blender, which we love and it has shown great reliability so far. On features, I really like the slider used to set the toast darkness - it has...

Ultimate Toaster

The controls are all backlighted. But the most important aspect is all of these features is that they work and work really well. Instead of an annoying bang raising the toast, it has a comfortable tone to tell you it's done. Even the tone can be adjusted or even turned off. It is solid, heavy and well built. But the best - the toasting is consistent from cycle to cycle. The toast surface is uniformly toasted without the dark and light spots from an ordinary toaster. It came well packaged - the toaster box was inside another box and that box was inside yet another box - all done at the factory. I think the packaging...
