Helped me save some money..
While it comes with scant instructions, with the help of youtube, and a heating element, this product helped me save at least $200 in dryer repair, and not having to lug the dryer into the store. Sears charges $129+tax as labor charges ad this product sells on sears site for about $35
To instal this, in my opinion, is only a little more effort than taking the whole dryer to the store. When I opened up the dryer (the only time I had opened up a dryer), I was shocked to see the dryer worked at all till then.. It had the heating element melted in different locations, and a piece of the heating element was wound around the hub of the drum (now I understand why there was a squeaking noise when the dryer was on). I was really pleased with making the dryer work again, this time much quieter ;).
It certainly made my wife happy..
Save hundreds of dollars!! Fix it yourself!
Dryer not working? Dryers are really simple devices and just about anyone can fix one. Just find your parts on line, purchase them on Amazon, and fix it in just a few hours. I replaced the squeaky bearing and the felt (between drum and housing) in 2-3 hours. I also cleaned out all the accumulated lint and removed all the old glue left over from the old felt (used paint thinner). I had a "new" dryer for around $20. Not bad. My wife was proud of me. The heating element did go out about three weeks later - replaced it in about an hour.
Bearing should be replaced when Dryer is apart
Was replacing the heater element and it was recommended to replace the bearing while the Dryer was apart. Excellent idea, since it needed it and access to this bearing was convient while the element was being replace. Thanks for recommending it.
